German cuisine has evolved as a national cuisine through centuries of social and political change with variations from region to region.

The southern regions of Germany, including Bavaria and neighbouring Swabia, share many dishes. Furthermore, across the border in Austria, one will find many different dishes. However, ingredients and dishes vary by region. Many significant regional dishes have become international, but have proliferated in very different variations across the country

Currywurst is a German national dish consisting of hot pork sausage cut into slices and seasoned with curry sauce  (regularly consisting of ketchup or tomato paste blended with curry) and generous amounts of curry powder, or a ready-made ketchup-based sauce  seasoned with curry and other spices.

Unter dem Begriff deutsche Küche bzw. deutsche Cuisine fasst man verschiedene regionale Kochstile und kulinarische Spezialitäten in Deutschland zusammen.

Seit den 1950er Jahren hat sich das alltägliche Kochen, Essen und Trinken in deutschen Haushalten durch Vermischung mit Aspekten aus anderen traditionellen Küchen gewandelt. Traditionelle regionale Speisen und Spezialitäten werden jedoch weiter gepflegt und entwickelt.
